Family Sponsorship & Family Reunification

Bring Your Family Together in Canada

Keeping families together is one of the fundamental objectives of Canada's immigration system. Canadian citizens and permanent residents may be eligible to sponsor certain family members for permanent residence, allowing them to live, work, and build their future together in Canada.

At CGS LAW, we help families navigate the Canadian family sponsorship process with confidence. Whether you are sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, child, parent, or grandparent, our immigration lawyers prepare complete, well-supported applications designed to avoid unnecessary delays and address potential concerns before they become problems.

From our office in Toronto, we represent clients throughout Ontario, across Canada, and internationally.

How the Family Sponsorship Process Works

Most family sponsorship applications involve two components.

First, IRCC determines whether the sponsor meets the legal requirements to sponsor a family member. Once sponsor eligibility has been assessed, IRCC reviews the sponsored family member's permanent residence application, including medical, criminality, security, and relationship requirements where applicable. Although these assessments are separate, they are submitted together as one complete application package.

Preparing a complete application from the outset can significantly reduce the likelihood of delays, requests for additional documents, or refusals.
