Hangama holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Canadian Common Law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Afghanistan. Following her graduation from Osgoode, she completed the Law Practice Program at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she gained valuable hands-on experience through placements with Sultan Law and Litchwick Law.

Prior to immigrating to Canada, Hangama held significant leadership roles with UN Women as a Program Manager and served as a Human Rights Commissioner in Afghanistan.
