Legal information, assistance and referrals for Ukrainians in Canada

The Ukrainian Canadian Legal Support Clinic was created to improve access to justice for Ukrainians in Canada.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, thousands of Ukrainians have arrived in Canada under temporary immigration programs. Many now face complicated questions about maintaining their immigration status, obtaining or extending work permits, reuniting with family members, accessing public services, finding safe housing, protecting their employment rights and building a permanent future in Canada.

Our goal is to ensure that members of the Ukrainian community can receive reliable legal information in a language they understand.

We work with lawyers, community organizations, settlement agencies and other service providers to:

• provide legal information and brief legal advice;
• identify urgent legal issues;
• refer individuals to appropriate legal and community services;
• deliver public legal education;
• develop practical Ukrainian-language legal resources; and
• advocate for fair and accessible laws and policies affecting Ukrainians in Canada.

Services are available in Ukrainian and English.

Depending on the nature of the matter and the resources available, the Clinic may provide legal information, brief advice, assistance with identifying next steps or a referral to another lawyer or organization.
